Open House:
Intro to parents and students, technology survey.
Monday, August 17:
Zoom with the whole class for 15 minutes, to introduce myself. Then drop the students into Zoom break-out sessions in groups of 6 to meet each other with a “get-to-know-you” sheet in English to discuss (posted ahead of time). Keep students in these same break-out groups all week, if possible, to get them comfortable. Students will discuss their answers for 5 minutes, then they will “record the meeting” for the last 5 minutes in their breakout zoom, each giving a mini-presentation of the get-to-know-you answers (30 seconds each). The recorder must be on a computer, not a phone, tablet, or Chromebook. The recorder will post the video to Flipgrid. 1 video for each 6 students. Post-Zoom assignment: Students will watch Unit 1A PowerPoint Video asynchronously as an introduction to basic French conversational phrases.
Tuesday, August 18:
Zoom with the whole class for 30 minutes, going through 1A PowerPoint, working on pronunciation and also discussing vowel combination pronunciations and silent consonants. Mini-conversation sheet posted ahead of time. Break-out session (same groups): practice the mini-conversation in their group of 4 for 5 minutes, record for 5 minutes. Recorder posts to Flipgrid. Post-Zoom assignment: Vocabulary Google Form.
Wednesday, August 19:
